Hospitals need accurate addresses to send out appointments Hospitals rely on the address details we give them to send you appointments and to file your records. The hospital will write to you when your name gets near to the top of the waiting list and ask you to telephone them to fix a appointment time that suits you. They will ask you to telephone them within 14 days. If they don't hear from you in time, they will assume that you do not want the appointment and remove your name from the waiting list. If they sent your letter to the wrong address your appointment will be lost and there may be a long delay before you get another appointment. If you change your address while you are waiting for an appointment you must let the hospital know. even if you have already told us. The best thing is to telephone the hospital switchboard, explain that you are waiting for an appointment and have changed your address and which department you are waiting to see. They should then be able to put you through to the correct person to get your details updated on the hospital records. |
