Health Service Reforms A key element of the NHS Reforms envisaged by the government's reforms is that every practice must be a member of a Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) that will plan and pay for all health care for the practice's patients. This gives us the opportunity to join the South Cumbria CCG, which is made up of practices with a similar rural population and uses the same hospital services. The practice and the Patient Representative Group strongly believe that the move will be beneficial for our patients. Although most bodies involved are in favour of this plan, there is opposition to the move. But the alternative would be to join the rest of the Craven practices in the new Airedale and Wharfedale CCG, which will be working with Airedale and Bradford hospital services, or become part of another CCG, presumably based in Harrogate. Either would leave us isolated and with no influence over the the service provided by Morecambe Bay Trust The PRG has organised a petition which so far (2/3/12) has over 600 signatures who support our plan. Please help us to improve your health service by visiting Bentham or Ingleton surgery to sign the petition. There is more about commissioning of care in the health service and our reasons for wanting to join the South Cumbria CCG here. |
