MEDICALS AND REPORTS The practice offers a number of services that are not covered by the NHS, usually medical examinations or reports, or private illness certificates. Because this work is outside the NHS, we charge a fee in line with the recommendations of the British Medical Association (BMA). The current fees are on display at Bentham and Ingleton surgery. If you would like further advice about obtaining a medical report or examination please ask or telephone reception. We usually carry out medical examinations, for example for HGV land PSV icences or insurance policies, during ordinary surgeries. They do take longer than usual appointments. If you want to book an appointment for a medical examination, please let the receptionist know when you make the appointment so that she can allocate enough time.
BMA recommended fees In general, NHS general practitioners may not charge their NHS patients for medical services, but there are some circumstances, where work is not covered under a GP’s NHS contract, in which doctors may charge fees to their NHS patients or a third party. The fees are reviewed annually by BMA Council on the advice of the Association’s Professional Fees Committee.
