Bentham surgery is closed between 18.30 and 08:00 Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and bank holidays. This time is called “out-of-hours”. An emergency general practice service is provided during this time by NHS 111

- Address where the patient may be found, with directions if necessary

The doctor may offer you advice, an appointment at one of the Primary Care Centres in Lancaster, Kendal or Morecambe or a visit by a doctor or a district nurse at your home if your medical condition makes it impossible for you to get to one of the Centres. In certain circumstances they may call an ambulance to take you to hospital if that is the best thing for you.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
