Because we are a rural practice we are able to dispense medications to some of our patients in the same way as a pharmacist. NHS regulations prevent us from dispensing to patients who live within a mile of a pharmacy shop. This affects people who live in High Bentham, Ingleton, Caton, Brookhouse and Westhouse. If you live elsewhere you can register with the practice as a dispensing patient and collect your prescriptions from the practice. Our dispensary at Bentham is fully stocked and is open for the same hours as the surgery. We dispense a few items at Ingleton, mainly painkillers and antibiotics when you have an appointment with a doctor.
How it works
To register to collect your medication from our dispensary just complete the form you can obtain from reception at Bentham or Ingleton surgery.
Then when you see a doctor or practice nurse at Bentham Surgery, you can collect prescriptions from the dispensary at Bentham. We have to charge the same prescription fee under the same NHS regulations as the chemists.
You can request repeat prescriptions in all the usual ways and we can deliver repeat prescriptions to many of the villages in the practice area.
